Ancestral Menstrual Support and Cycle Synching

For much of history, this sacred time in a woman’s cycle was supported by sisterhood, comfort and a synching of activities to a lunar cycle. The quarters of our moon cycle correspond metaphorically to the four seasons and each week of the month offers a different potential for relationships to oneself and others.

Though sometimes a result of patriarchal systems and religious taboos, red tents or menstrual huts sometimes offered the opportunity for a culture of support to be created amongst menstruating women now sorely missing in modern culture. One consequence may be increased disturbance by premenstrual symptoms knowns as premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD.

This live online course is offered for women who have suffered at least 5 of the following symptoms for at least 2 consecutive cycles:

  • Depressed mood or feelings of hopelessness

  • Irritability or anger

  • Anxiety or tension

  • Mood swings

  • Decreased interest in activities

  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • Fatigue

  • Changes in appetite

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Physical symptoms (e.g., bloating, breast tenderness)
